Celebrating Diversity - Women Arise!




In honor of International Women's Day on March 20, 2009, Agape Community Center held a luncheon to honor 6 distinguished women in our community.

Those in honor were Dr. Leah Ardnt who serves as a Clinical and Mental Health consultant to the Milwaukee Police Department's Police Officer Support Team.

Janice Brazil Cummings who serves as the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Department of Juctice / Office of Crime Victim Services.

Dolly Grimes-Johnson who, for 25 years, served as the shelter Manager at Sojourner Truth House, a program for battered women and their children.

August Marie Wanger-Richardson, a young advocate who effortlessly encourages everyone around her to do the best they can do, and never settle for less.

Vera Pina who works as a Mental Health Consultant and Therapist with poverty stricken families at LaCausa Treatment Center.

Marge Singer Poker, wife of a POW, mother, volunteer, and life long learner, at age 82 graduated in December 2008 with an Associated Degree in Applied Science in Human Services.

These 6 women are role models in our community who inspire us to stand up for what we believe and to never give up. The luncheon was an a wonderful tribute to woman who will touch our lives forever.
